STANDING AGAINST Harassment and Assault

Fighting back against the harassment/assault which runs rampant in the State Capitol is personal to Steve.

As a gay Black man who served in the military during the era of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,” Steve experienced sexual harassment and unwanted touching.

Steve is deeply committed to ending the culture and structures that allow sexual harassment and assault to go unchecked.

Steve supports the measures promoted by “We Said Enough” including new protections for victims of abuse and witnesses/whistleblowers, a confidential hotline for anonymous reports, an independent investigator for all claims, and a unified Assembly-Senate process.

We need to ensure that victims are connected to services for their immediate needs are met and critically, to change the culture in the State Capital that normalizes these abuses of power.
